Club Trial - Judges Jemma Whitford & Jo Brook

1st Charlotte & Ruby 88pts

2nd Jo and Kiki 80 pts

3rd Lesley and Yoshi 79 pts

4th Netta and Pablo 67 pts

The trial was held in an old school building that is now used as a village hall and kids club. The search area for the club trail was the top half of the main school hall, with some chairs and tables around the edges to offer some interesting places to search. The room itself can be divided by to large floor to ceiling concertina style dividers. These were folded away for the trial but the base of one provided the hide location for the club trial. There was no overlap in odour choice between the club and bronze level trials.

This was the first time competing for most of the entrants in todays club trial, and everyone did really well fighting back the nerves. The area for the most part was searched really well and thoroughly by all the teams with all handlers doing their best to ensure everywhere was covered. All the dogs enjoyed the search and it was lovely to watch them all working. All the teams found the hide. Thanks to Jo and Sam for the extra assistance in the club trial.

Bronze trial - Judge Jemma Whitford

1st Charlotte and Monty

2nd Jo and Gilbert

3rd Jan and Amber (Diamond)

4th Sam and Blu

Everyone was brought in to view the area before the hides were placed. For the bronze trial we used the same area of the main hall, plus an additional room on the end of the hall that is predominantly used as a play room for the kids club, so it contained lots of toys and play equipment stored away around the edges, as well as chair storage.

The first hide was placed in the main hall on the underside of a table, around 6 ft into the search area. While several dogs appeared to locate the scent pool, unfortunately non of them managed to locate the source. However all teams worked the areas given really well, with nice methodical searching from most teams, where a team missed an area, they came back and worked it at a later point in the search. In the second room again teams worked well. The hide was placed under a ground height crossbeam on a large wooden table. Most dogs were a little more hectic in the second room but all handlers did well to keep their dogs focused with some lovely indications. Special mention to one handler who's dog spooked a little on the floor surface but the handler did an amazing job of reassuring their dog and supporting them through it. Overall some fantastic teamwork from all teams today.
