Ripon Racecourse 5th October

Club Trial  - Judge Jo Brook

We used a small outdoor terrace area of the seafood bar which consisted of a concrete area with metal railings on 3 sides attached to the front of the bar making up the 4th side.  There were some tables and chairs on the concrete area.  The hide was placed in a stack of chairs that were on the building side & slightly undercover.

It was lovely to welcome teams for their first ever ScentOps trial and to see the progression of other teams.

Not everyone found the hide mainly down to the direction of the wind &  handlers not working their dog in both directions.

Looking forward to seeing the teams progress.

This search area was a challenge due to the ever changing gusting wind.

The start was along side a betting office at the bottom of the stairs.  The first hide was in the corner of a picture frame hung on a door, not accessible.   Only 2 dogs picked this up & worked to source on the 1st pass,  most dogs knocked the odour but struggled to locate straight away.

The search area than ran round a corner along the front of the betting office over an undercover concrete area and up some stone steps with slabbed seating areas and metal & plastic railings.  The hide was placed on the ground tucked at the bottom of the concrete seating area.  All dogs picked this one up but again some struggled to work to source with some not finding.

Great teams who read their dogs well, some stepping in to give extra support where needed.
